Medical treatment.

Long leave* V

Study leave.

Members of the staff and their families are granted privileged rates (the terms in all respects being similar to those applicable to Government Servants of corresponding seniority) whilst patients in all Government Hospitals in Colony.

Members of the staff serving on permanent appointments are entitled to 9 months' leave (to include a long vacation) on full salary after 42 years' continuous service.

After a member of the permanent staff has completed 12 years' service or attained the age of 45 years, 7 months' leave (to include a long vacation) may be granted after periods of 31⁄2 can be years' continuous service, when this arranged without serious inconvenience to the work of the University and provided the member himself pays one-eighth of the cost of his own and his family's passages.

Where it can be arranged without serious inconvenience to the work of the University, ex- tended leave for purposes of study may be grant ed. The duration of such extended leave and the terms of salary payment shall in all such cases be at the discretion of the Council,

Such leave will be granted only if a pro- gramme of work is presented and on the distinct

understanding that a report of such work shall be submitted to the Council on the officer's re- turn. It shall be clearly understood that study leave cannot be claimed as a matter of right, decision in the matter resting entirely with the University Council as to whether such leave will serve the interests of the University.

Study leave when granted is to be taken in extension of the ordinary leave due to an offi- cer in accordance with the general rules regarding leave.

Any application for sick leave shall be accom- Sick leave. panied by a Medical Certificate. Applications for periods exceeding one month may in the dis- cretion of the Vice-Chancellor be referred to the decision of a Medical Board consisting of not less than two members, one of whom shall be the applicant's medical adviser.

Where sick leave is granted, local leave up to one month shall be on full pay, but cases of longer periods shall be dealt with on their merits.

On Appointment.-Appointees are en- Passages, titled to a first-class passage to Hong Kong on appointment.

On Long Leave.-First-class return pass- ages to London via Suez are granted to mem- bers of the permanent staff when proceeding on long leave.

On Determination of Service.-On determination of service members of the per- manent staff are entitled to first-class passages to London via Suez.
